The Opportunity
Slegg Building Materials is currently seeking a Full Time Financial Controller to work out of our Corporate Head Office in Sidney.
Key Account Responsibilities and Functions
(Include but are not limited to the following)
General
- Management and ownership of the division’s accounting function
- Act as an ambassador of the company with all stakeholders
- Maintain an emphasis on a safety culture, customer service, and efficiency as top priorities
- Communicate issues and successes to appropriate superior(s) in a respectful and timely manner
- Follow all regulations and company policies and procedures
Specific
- Complete Trial Balance ownership and reconciliation
- Payroll process review
- Bank reconciliation understanding and review
- Design, implement and maintain financial controls
- Liaise/supervise with Accounts Payable and Receivable as necessary
- Regulatory body reporting with regard to consumption taxes, WCB, etc.
- Timely and accurate production of month-end and year-end entries, analysis, and reconciliation
- Review and approval of expense reports
- As requested, evaluate existing internal controls, processes, and financial reporting methodologies and determine any required corrective action
- Provide technical accounting guidance and support to ensure compliance of internal accounting policies and procedures in accordance to business requirements, industry standards, and federal regulations
- Participate in special projects such as financial systems upgrades, evaluation of new systems, or procedures
- Active management, mentoring, or guidance to any assigned direct or indirect reports or teams on regular tasks or special projects
- Various other ad hoc projects and analytics to support senior management
