THE OPPORTUNITY/SUMMARY:

Slegg Building Materials is currently seeking to fill a full time Accounts Payable Manager that will work out of our Corporate Head Office in Sidney. The Accounts Payable Manager will manage all accounts payable functions and department personnel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:

• Act as an ambassador of the company with all employees and customers
• Maintain an emphasis on a safety culture, customer service, and efficiency as top priorities
• Provides overall direction, support, coaching and leadership to the Accounts Payable Team
• Responsible for the hiring, training and development of employees
• Develops, reviews and presents regular management reports concerning accounts payable KPIs
• Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
• Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions
• Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; scheduling and preparing payment runs; resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; ensuring credit is received for outstanding memos; issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments.
• Carries out month-end procedures, accruals and prepares reconciliations
• Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
• Ensures compliance to sales tax rules

Job Requirements

REQUIRED SKILL AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3-5 years experience in a management role within Finance.
• Proven ability to supervise a team in a high-volume environment to ensure accuracy, compliance and a team culture of excellence.
• Strong interpersonal skills including leadership, conflict resolution and team building abilities.
• Proven analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven ability to effectively prioritize and organize work flow to ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment and able to adapt to shifting priorities.
• Takes initiative, is proactive in their work, and results-oriented.
• Strong technical skills including advanced Microsoft Office and MS Navigation
• Diploma in Accounting or Finance considered an asset
• A positive can do attitude is essential
